Sacramento River Ecotours leads this one-of-a-kind day on a working cattle ranch, with oak woodland uplands, secluded riparian corridors, and sweeping vistas. Your guide, Henry Lomeli, delivers nuggets of natural history, cultural, and management history to a captive audience as the “ecomog” carries the whole gang on a privately stewarded ranch nestled into the Sierra Nevada foothills. The tour travels across the oak woodlands, to the lower stretches of Deer Creek, and discovers the trails left by explorers marked by historic Lassen Trail markers and wildlife, plants, and ecology met along the way. At its conclusion, a gourmet spread of local items and Trappist wine will be served as the current stewards of this property join us, as the story and history of this space continues to unfold.
